The next Call of Duty game will be set during World War II and it will be available before the holiday season for 2017. Call of Duty WWII is now being confirmed by multiple sources and gaming websites. There hasn’t been any official word from the developers, Activision, as of yet but let it be known, it WILL happen.
Returning to their roots
This was something that was said a few months ago by Sledgehammer (One of the many developers). “The Call of Duty franchise was going to return to its roots”. This meaning that they will be dusting off the history books, rather than the science fiction books, to make a new game. For me this is really brilliant stuff. I’ve found the last few CoD games boring, overly complicated and ridiculously absurd. In this case, Activision had no option other than to go back to go forwards. This is probably the most excited I have been for a CoD game since I was let down by MW2.
It will be interesting to see how it will compare to Battlefield 1 as both games will be set within 30 years of each other (BF1 documenting WW1 and CoD being WW2), although CoD will really have to up its game from its recent games.
There is currently no confirmed release date for CoD WWII but if I was to hazard an intelligent guess based on previous game releases I would expect it to be around the second week in November. I will update this page when a release date is officially announced.
I would also like to personally apologise to ‘TheFamilyVideoGamers’ on YouTube as I doubted the credibility of his original leak. To make amends I have included his video below, feel free to show him some love.
