I may actually be psychic. Recently in my review of Farpoint, which you can read here, I mentioned that the game we really want to see take the stage in virtual reality are first person games set in a giant open world like Skyrim, GTA 5 or Fallout. Well it seems we will be getting the latter as Fallout 4 is going to be re-released in full VR glory, along with Doom.
Fallout 4 VR
Announced last night at E3, Fallout 4 VR is the full open world extravaganza that the original game is but it will truly be played from a first person perspective. Thus far it has only been announced for the HTC Vive but that may change closer to release date but one thing is almost certain, it is going to blow all other VR games clean out of the water. You can also bet that you will need a beast of a computer to run it smoothly but I’m sure the recommended specs will be released soon. The thing that I’m most eagerly anticipating though is that it will be released for PC, which means modders will be able to go nuts with it. We haven’t really seen any modded VR games yet and this could be the first mainstream game that receives that treatment.
Fallout 4 VR is due for release in October although no official date has been announced yet.
