Well, well, well as it turns out I’m psychic. Three weeks ago I reviewed Farpoint (which you can check out here). In it I mentioned that the type of games that I wanted to see harness true VR capabilities were first person open world titles like Fallout, Skyrim and GTA 5. Fallout 4 VR was announced a few days ago and now it has been revealed that Skyrim is also getting a VR release! All I need now is for there to be a GTA 5 announcement and I will start playing the lottery.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim VR is the latest reboot of Skyrim. When the original game was released in 2011 it was an absolute extravaganza. Everyone was playing it and it developed a gigantic following. It also became a modders wet dream on PC, in fact it probably is the most modded game to date. Last year Bethesda released a “Special Edition” which I wasn’t a fan of, as you can read here. The reasons that I didn’t like it was because they re-released it without really doing anything to it. They increased texture and incorporated a few mods but it still waned in comparison to the PC version. However with this re-release I can fully support it because they have actually made changes.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR will be launched on PlayStation 4 on November 30th. You will need a PlayStation Virtual Reality headset to play it.
