Well it seems as though Ubisoft has finally revealed the location of the latest game in the Far Cry series, Far Cry 5. It appears as though they are moving away from the tropical surroundings of the previous two games in the series (Excluding primal) and instead going a little more country as Far Cry 5 will be set in Hope County, Montana.
It will be interesting to see what kind of path Ubisoft choose to go down with this game. I was a big fan of Far Cry 3; largely due to the fact that it had one of the best villains we have seen in video games for a long time but also because it wasn’t too ridiculous. Far Cry 4 was where the series lost a little bit of steam for me, it just felt a little too outlandish. If Far Cry 3 was Grand Theft Auto, Far Cry 4 was Saint’s Row. Still good but it isn’t intended to feel real. The fact that you could just ride an elephant into battle seemed absurd to me, this isn’t The Lord of the Rings.
But I hold out hope for Far Cry 5. I can see it having sort of a modern day Red Dead Redemption vibe.
Nothing is confirmed yet regarding a release date for Far Cry 5 but Ubisoft are set to release a more feature length reveal trailer in the next few days and details of the release will probably be in that.
